Syracuse Scholars Selection Committee Selection and Nomination
A group of 8 to 12 academically outstanding graduating seniors are designated each year as Syracuse University Scholars. Students are selected by a University wide faculty committee from candidates nominated by the schools and colleges in the following process. Each school and college nominates academically outstanding students according to criteria developed within that college or school. Each school or college may nominate a minimum of two and as many as one student per every 100 students in this graduating class. Nominees submit a portfolio of appropriate supporting documents. Information on the selection process, including nominating forms, guidelines for student portfolios, and criteria for evaluation of co-curricular activities, is available in the college deans' office. Membership of SU Scholars Selection Committee The SU Scholars Selection Committee shall include a faculty representative from each undergraduate school or college, as well as the College of Law. The normal expectation for appointments to the committee would be a three-year renewable term. Appointments of new members should be made in the spring for the following year. The Chair of the Senate Committee on Academic Affairs will contact the dean's office of each eligible school or college in the spring to confirm continuing memberships or request the appointment of new members. Two undergraduate students will be appointed to the Committee for a one-year term. Uupdated August 22, 2007
