Major & Minor Programs

MAJOR:
A major is a minimum of 18 credits of advanced courses in a formally approved program of study into which a student has been accepted. The list of approved majors (with minimum number of credits required) appears in the undergraduate course catalog.

MINOR:
Students may pursue a minor (minimum of 18 credits, with 12 at the 300- to 400-level). Minors must conform to the requirements outlined in 13.4.2 of Academic Rules and Regulations Proposals for new and amended minors must be sent to the Senate committee on Curricula for approval. The following information is required:

  • Title
  • Brief description that will appear in the catalog
  • Requirements for admission, if any, including GPA and/or prerequisites
  • Restrictions, if any, as to who may apply
  • Total credits, required courses and optional
  • College/school or academic department that will have oversight responsibility, and to which students will come to formally apply

Date of approval, or deactivation, by school/college curriculum committee.
