Syllabus for New Courses
An appended syllabus is required of all new course proposals that contains, at a minimum, the following:
- Instructor contact information and contact minutes, course title, number, and prerequisites/cor-requisites and description;
- Required textbooks, readings, supplies;
- Learning outcomes;
- Proposed course "calendar" that includes topics/activities for each week/class meeting with due dates;
- Summary of course requirements with an explanation of how students will be evaluated/graded;
- Boilerplate on University-wide policies on academic integrity and students with disabilties;
- Course-specific policies pertaining to, for example, attendance, late work, make-up work, and any special instructions on academic integrity expectations.
- If the course is double numbered (400/600 -level) indicating that undergraduates and graduates meet together, explain what additional course work is required of graduate students. There must be a distinct difference between graduate and undergraduate requirements.
