SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY Nominations for the Fourth Annual Diversity Recognition Award

The University Senate Committee for Diversity is pleased to announce commencement of the Fourth Annual Diversity Recognition Award. The Award is given to an individual or group of the University community who has worked to improve interaction, cooperation, understanding and/or furtherance of dialogue among and between diverse groups on campus. We refer to these indicators as core factors.

Nominations will be accepted by students, faculty or staff, and should address the following:

  1. A summary of the individual/group and how their work incorporates the core factors into their practices.

  2. Specific examples of the work performed by the individual/group that demonstrates the commitment to advancing the core factors either within or outside of the University community.

  3. Accomplishments as they relate to the core factors and how they enhance the University's climate.

  4. If the work is performed within the individual/group's prescribed duties, discuss how the accomplishments extend beyond general performance expectations.

The recipient of the Diversity Recognition Award also will receive a cash prize of $250.

To submit a nomination:

  • Send a statement that includes the criteria above.

  • The statement should include the names of two individuals, beyond the nominee, who will support the nomination.

  • Submissions should be no longer than 3 pages in length.

Nominations must be received no later than Thursday, March 9, 2007. Submissions after this date will not be eligible for review. The award will be announced at the April 18, 2007 meeting of the University Senate.
