Prof. Schell's report included notice of a proposal to amend the bylaws, to be laid on the table for one month, as follows: Prof. Schell told the body that the proposal would be taken up and voted on at the March 18th Senate meeting. She also reminded Senate members that there would be an additional meeting on March 4th for the purpose of discussion of a report from the Budget committee. Schell finished with an update of the progress of the ad hoc committee on sexual harassment and abuse of power, which she said would be reporting to the Agenda Committee at the end of February with a draft of their recommendations, and hoped to present the recommendations at a Senate meeting later in the spring. She told the body that a lengthy report from a chancellor-appointed task force on disability had been received, and would be referred to appropriate Senate committees for review, and possible discussion in the fall. The Chancellor called Prof. Pat Cihon who reported for the Academic Affairs committee in the absence of the chairman. He told Senate members that the committee had completed its work on a draft of new language on tenure for the faculty manual, and was asking for feedback on the document from faculty. He said the committee hoped to bring a proposal to the Senate for approval later in the spring, adding that the document could be viewed at : http://elin.syr.edu/proposedfacultymanual In the discussion, a member asked whether the committee was asking for comment on the wording of the policy only, or regulations and links to instructions for completing the forms as well. Prof. Cihon said that the committee wanted comment on the policy only. Another member urged the committee to make all the online forms "writeable". There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.Teresa Gilman University Senate Recorder
